The future is now! Soon the phrase from the sci-fi movie “flipnut to the spaceport,” becomes a reality. At least the second part of mankind has provided. In October, an official opening ceremony of the spaceport, “America,” the world’s first commercial site for private space flight. Spaceport was opened in the desert of New Mexico. The project was implemented in English Office Foster and Partners. Starport includes a waiting room and flight training, hangar and control tower. Also provided a runway length of three kilometers.

All roads lead to Paris, and why wouldn’t it? Daisuke Iguchi’s vision of the future’s electric car would be more than enough reason to start looking in that direction.

The 2046 Parsonal Commuter in Paris Concept is the Saitama-born Japanese designer’s take on the electric car. It is compact, and it is sleek and sexy. Designed to have one or two uber-comfortable seats, these shared cars give the phrase “automatic driving” a lot more edge.

Evening of 21 June in the center of modern design and innovation to life MOD Design Nokia has introduced the most recent  smartphone Nokia N9-based operating system MeeGo. The manufacturer has presented three possible colors: Black, blue and pink. Also, the new smartphone is equipped with an 8-megapixel autofocus camera module and GPS, supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and NFC. Other technical specifications: Processor OMAP3630 clocked at 1 GHz, graphics co-processor PowerVR SGX530, AMOLED-display diagonal of 3.9 inches with a resolution 854h480 points, RAM 1 GB memory and user data 16 or 64 GB.

The Jaguar C-X75

Luxury and sports car manufacturer Jaguar is at it again… and we are not complaining.

Debuting at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, the concept car C-X75 wowed and bowled over car lovers and enthusiasts. In honor of the British company’s 75th year, it was named C-X75, with C and X standing for Concept and Experimental, respectively. (more…)

The “Octopussy” Floor Lamp

At first glance, it does look funny, but the functionality of this floor lamp is anything but laughable.

Vladimir Tomilov is the creative mind behind the “Octopussy”, a floor lamp with ‘tentacles’ for legs and a ‘giant eye’ for light. You’d think it would serve only as an accent piece in any room but, upon closer inspection, you’ll realize that the Russian industrial designer definitely knows what he’s doing.  (more…)

CD Portrait of Bob Marley

In an effort to combat piracy in the music industry, many concerned parties, including the musicians themselves, have raised their voices against it. While others were more vocal, some resorted to more unconventional ways to get their message across. TBWA Italy joined in this campaign and also launched the pop culture magazine First Floor Under by making use of CDs in creating portraits of not one, but seven, musicians who are legends in their own rights. Ever since word got out about the Russian design company coming out with “a million keyboards in one”, there were a lot of mixed reactions, especially when it seemed that the product would be worth more than $1000. Why, that is even more that what one would normally pay for a computer! However, there are a lot of reasons why the Optimus Popularis is going to be worth every cent of its $1000+ price tag.
