Evening of 21 June in the center of modern design and innovation to life MOD Design Nokia has introduced the most recent  smartphone Nokia N9-based operating system MeeGo. The manufacturer has presented three possible colors: Black, blue and pink. Also, the new smartphone is equipped with an 8-megapixel autofocus camera module and GPS, supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and NFC. Other technical specifications: Processor OMAP3630 clocked at 1 GHz, graphics co-processor PowerVR SGX530, AMOLED-display diagonal of 3.9 inches with a resolution 854h480 points, RAM 1 GB memory and user data 16 or 64 GB.

Pythagorean cup, also known as the Pythagorean Glass, Fair Cup and Pythagoras Cup. The Pythagorean cup is a form of drinking cup, which is a deep sense of control measures of a drink.

Tradition says Pythagoras, during water supply works in the island of Samos, around 530 b.C. moderated the workers’ wine drinking by the inventing the “fare cup”. When the wine surpasses the line, the cup totally empties, so the greedy one is punished.

A sweeping font with clean lines.

The branding for Kalypso Hotel, a hotel in the island of Crete, was undertaken as a college project by Con Papanestis. He took inspiration from the location of the hotel when choosing the colors, strongly influenced by Crete’s azure sea and sky, and the simple, sweeping lines of the waves of the ocean.

Cultural spaces are not mere venues where various art forms or media are displayed. They are, in and of themselves, a backdrop that will highlight the subjects instead of swallowing them whole. Getting that balance is important when it comes to designing the logo or corporate identity for such a cultural space, and that was achieved by designer Sophia Georgopoulou for “Based in Athens”.  (more…)

The Felix Zawojski Hotel

The Felix Zawojski Hotel in the Czech Republic had very humble beginnings, much like the designer and tailor whose honor the house was built for. It took about a hundred years before the house’s potential to be a plush and luxurious hotel worthy of kings and queens and princes and princesses.

The ABJ Explorer One

Some may say that this is taking “luxury jet” too far.

Is it? After all, no one could say that an airplane with a balcony is not innovative and outright ingenious. BAE Systems has taken private planes on a higher plane (no pun intended) with the introduction of their concept for the Avro Business Jet (ABJ) Explorer One. In collaboration with Design Q, a UK-based company that specializes in coming up with designs for luxury transport solutions, BAE Systems is now stressing on the “V” aspect of “VIP flying”, as evidenced by the ultra-posh and ultra-comfortable interiors of the Explorer.  (more…)

The Design Studio of Mercedes-Benz in Como of Italy, was opened in February 1998 and is specialized in developing new interior design concepts. The current Design Studio Manager is Michele Jauch Paganetti, who succeded Mr. Norber Weber in October 2006. The  Design Studio of Mercedes-Benz in Como, is the third Design Studio, after the studio in Yokohama of  Japan and Irvine in USA. All three  studios have the same objective in design.

Daisuke Iguchi’s 2046 Parsonal Commuter in Paris

All roads lead to Paris, and why wouldn’t it? Daisuke Iguchi’s vision of the future’s electric car would be more than enough reason to start looking in that direction.

The 2046 Parsonal Commuter in Paris Concept is the Saitama-born Japanese designer’s take on the electric car. It is compact, and it is sleek and sexy. Designed to have one or two uber-comfortable seats, these shared cars give the phrase “automatic driving” a lot more edge.
