Cultural spaces are not mere venues where various art forms or media are displayed. They are, in and of themselves, a backdrop that will highlight the subjects instead of swallowing them whole. Getting that balance is important when it comes to designing the logo or corporate identity for such a cultural space, and that was achieved by designer Sophia Georgopoulou for “Based in Athens”.  (more…)

TV Beds from Time 4 Sleep

Efficiency is fast becoming a major consideration when it comes to interior design, or even the simple act of purchasing integral pieces of furniture. Space efficiency, to be more precise. But there is also a need to never sacrifice comfort and functionality. The bedroom is considered to be one of the more important rooms in every home. After all, more than a place to sleep in, it serves a sanctuary, where one could lie down after a tiring day at work, kick back, relax, drink some wine, and watch some late night reruns on the television, or maybe pop a video or two. Having a TV Bed to do all those in would be the perfect way to end each day (and start a new one the next day).

CD Portrait of Bob Marley

In an effort to combat piracy in the music industry, many concerned parties, including the musicians themselves, have raised their voices against it. While others were more vocal, some resorted to more unconventional ways to get their message across. TBWA Italy joined in this campaign and also launched the pop culture magazine First Floor Under by making use of CDs in creating portraits of not one, but seven, musicians who are legends in their own rights. Heineken Cube

How do you drink your beer? From a beer mug? Straight from the can? Or do you drink it cold, taking a swig right off the bottle? Ever pictured yourself taking a drink from a square bottle?

Well, if it were up to Heineken and Petit Romain, you would be doing that sometime in the future. The French industrial designer has just revealed his concept of a Heineken bottle. Foregoing the usual round bottles with long and narrow necks, this one has a square shape and is aptly named “Heineken Cube”. (more…)

Ask any booklover or “bookworm” and he or she would tell you that there is no better feeling than holding books in the palm of your hands. Well, various designers took that concept quite literally, coming up with bookends that represent both the function of said items, and the passion one finds in books. Here are a few hand-inspired bookends that will definitely give you more incentive to keep on reading. Now, shelves will no longer look boring and plain, what with these “handy” (no pun intended) and unique-looking bookends.
