At the Geneva Motor Show, the Swiss manufacturer Saab has been submitted to the general public a new, from some words very radical concept car Saab Phoenix. Jason Castriota, famous Italian-American designer styling, had the honor to design a concept car Saab Phoenix.

At first glance, it does look funny, but the functionality of this floor lamp is anything but laughable.

Vladimir Tomilov is the creative mind behind the “Octopussy”, a floor lamp with ‘tentacles’ for legs and a ‘giant eye’ for light. You’d think it would serve only as an accent piece in any room but, upon closer inspection, you’ll realize that the Russian industrial designer definitely knows what he’s doing.  (more…)

The State Academic Bolshoi Theater of Russia, more commonly known as the Bolshoi Theater of Russia, is both historic and noteworthy in terms of its design and architecture. Located in Moscow, it holds ballet and opera performances and, to this day, remains to be one of the most famous and revered landmarks of Russia.

The Design Studio of Mercedes-Benz in Como of Italy, was opened in February 1998 and is specialized in developing new interior design concepts. The current Design Studio Manager is Michele Jauch Paganetti, who succeded Mr. Norber Weber in October 2006. The  Design Studio of Mercedes-Benz in Como, is the third Design Studio, after the studio in Yokohama of  Japan and Irvine in USA. All three  studios have the same objective in design.

London’s Cypriot studio SuperNova Studio, has created a stunning interior design for the boutique Kokoo in Nicosia. Among the elements of the decor, the giant golden egg, with sticking out human legs ,a blue rooster with shelves and hangers, umbrellas instead. Surrealism in the service of a consumer society.

In ancient Egyptian mythology, there is an evil demon that embodies pure darkness and chaos. It is named Apepi or, in Greek, Apophis. Now perhaps you’re wondering why a USB flash drive would be named after a demon god. Well, it’s not. This flash drive is actually named after the near-earth asteroid 99942 Apophis. With a width of 390 meters, this asteroid, which first manifested itself in December 2004, shows signs of colliding with Earth on April 13, 2036. Very Doomsday-ish, but there is no denying that it has an impact, literally and figuratively. As is the design of this unique USB flash drive.

How do you drink your beer? From a beer mug? Straight from the can? Or do you drink it cold, taking a swig right off the bottle? Ever pictured yourself taking a drink from a square bottle?

Well, if it were up to Heineken and Petit Romain, you would be doing that sometime in the future. The French industrial designer has just revealed his concept of a Heineken bottle. Foregoing the usual round bottles with long and narrow necks, this one has a square shape and is aptly named “Heineken Cube”. (more…)
