Sozopol is one of most ancient bulgarian towns ,situated on the seaside of the Black sea ,only 20 km southern from the city of Burgas. It is a place ,which unites an amazing  combination of ancient byzantine  history and a modern sea resort. In the year of 610 BC ,on the place of the town has been established a Hellenic colony named Apolonia Pontika  ( “Apolonia “ from Apollo ,a God from the Greek mythology). The town of Apollo has been known as an important trade and seaport  town,the most developed of all others.

Thats why when you enter through the iron gates  in the inner yard, you will notice the multitude of the arches, colonnades, covered wooden ladders, the wood-caving balconies and behind them – the cells,about 300 or 400.
