Ferrari Aliante Concept Design (Scarlet/Red)

The Ferrari Aliante Concept

If there is one word to describe Ferrari’s design landscape right now, it would be “unstoppable”. Brilliant designers just keep churning out concept cars that never fail to make our jaws drop. On the heels of the unveiling of the Ferrari 612 GTO concept comes the equally stunning, if not even more so, Ferrari Aliante Concept.

Staying true to Ferrari’s mark of masculinity, luxury and style, the Ferrari Aliante is sexy, sleek and scarlet! However, its generous curves and sweeping arcs imply a hint of gentleness beneath those bold and sweeping lines. Although it could be said that it obviously derived some inspiration from Formula One, this two-seater has seamlessly combined the best features of Ferrari GT cars with that of their F1 racing cars. That’s akin to having the best of both worlds behind one steering wheel.

The seemingly exposed rear-mounted engine is not, after all, exposed, as it is protected by glass. Its side curvature is purposefully dented inward to make way for massive vents to regulate engine temperature. Do not expect a trunk on this beauty, but then again, taking the overall design into consideration, who needs one?

First seen at the 2011 Ferrari World Design Contest held in Maranello, Italy, this gorgeous supercar of the future sprang from the collaborative brains and hands of the young and talented designer triumvirate of Daniel Soriano, Arunkumar Shanmugam, and Magnus Grettve, all students from the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) in Torino. The accompanying images are rendered by Soriano himself.

Although the Ferrari Aliante concept might never see the light of day and go into production (but we sure can hope!), what do you think about it? Do you picture yourself taking the wheel of this version of the “Prancing Stallion” in the future? Let us know by leaving a comment!
