Minoas – branding for Cretan food
In Greek mythology, there was a man from Crete Minoas, who went around telling people that he was chosen by the gods to be the King of Crete. As proof of this preference, he asked Poseidon, god of the ocean, for his help in raising a white bull from the sea.
As a result, he became King. His name Minoas, then became known far and wide and, to this day, it remains in good favor among people. It has also become the brand name for a series of products of Cretan food, and Nick Panagiotou came up with this project for its branding and packaging.
First up: the logo. There were three elements incorporated into the design: the labyris (a double axe), the horns of consecration, and the prince of lilies.
